The Long and Short

It’s simple, but one of my favorite looks. A long-sleeved shirt with shorts. I don’t know why, but it’s long been a summer go-to. While I realize the heat of Virginia doesn’t make much sense with a long-sleeved shirt, the ridiculous temperatures at which air conditioning is kept keeps me comfortable inside. I am also always about balance; Sometimes I feel like shorts with a tank top can be just plain too much skin. At the beach, it’s one thing, but I feel a little exposed walking around the grocery store like that. This is one of my favorite sweaters. I got it to wear at our business during Valentines day week, but it quickly became one that I grabbed year round. Even though it’s a sweater, the bright colors make it less seasonally specific.

Next week I’ve got one black silk cami styled 3 different ways. I’m super excited to show you how versatile you can make items in your closet. I hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend, I know I’m so grateful for those that have served and continue to protect simple freedoms that I take for granted every day!

Knobby Knees on Rainy Days

Another rainy day, calls for another way to style your wellies. I always like to wear mine with either shorts or a dress, especially when it’s eighty and raining.

Pink and green are a classic “preppy” color combination (see the 250 items of Lilly Pulitzer for Target sold out within hours), but I like things a little off. This peachy dress isn’t your typical pink in the watermelon-esque trend, but it’s a new spin on the classic. Finish it off with a hunter or mossy green rather than kelly green and you’ve got a subtle interpretation.

Dress (Piperlime: sadly going out of business at the end of April but everything is on super sale), wellies (Hunter).

Happy Monday

While I love overalls for a date night look (keep and eye out for these same ones featured next week), the weather in Virginia has been rotten and they are GREAT for comfort and plain old wanting to be warm on a grey day! Not to mention the pockets, oh the pockets. How did I get through the day before I had overalls and a million pockets?!

You may recognize the sweater from my Lumberjane post! I’ve restyled it as my comfy crop sweater under my overalls and tried to amp up the red with my New Balance sneaks.

A little tip for those of you that also have small feet: you can buy children’s shoes. They are a fraction of the cost and essentially the same shoe. I’m a seven or seven and a half and almost always buy youth sneakers, flip flops, slippers, etc.
