There are a lot of different versions of the re-emerged culotte. This is a more modified leg, but it’s a great change from the skin-tight skinny jean. It’s also a nice alternative to those of you that don’t love shorts but find a skinny jean or denim too hot for the summer. They range in fabrics and the wide leg gives a relaxed feel, while being easily dressed up and accomplishes a put together feel that can go to church, brunch or a business meeting.

For this look, I literally changed one item (the skirt for the pant) and accomplished a completely different look. Don’t be afraid to go with monochromatic in the summer, whether it’s all white, all black or maybe all a bright poppy! It’s a chic look that can be very flattering when done right!

I hope you’ve enjoyed the “travel light” series featuring the same racerback black tank! Use it as a reminder that, one item styled differently can accomplish different needs and you don’t have to buy three different black shirts in order for you to have three different looks. Another point that this makes is that if you buy one, good quality item and wear it to death,  you will ultimately spend more money than re-buying poor quality every season! Also ALWAYS follow laundering instructions. They are there for a reason, and if you throw a silk shirt in the dryer, you’re screwed.

I love the relaxed mood that Summer brings to fashion. With fall and winters layers, there tends to be a more polished and put together attitude. These distressed jeans are one of my absolute favorites. While my husband likes to joke that I look like I fell through a lawn mower, they can be dressed up or down. There’s nothing like pairing denim with a simple black top, in my opinion, and it was perfect for a cloudy day on the beach. Don’t feel like a distressed look is limited to casual though; keep an open mind and an eye out for ways to dress these up during the summer. Think pretty anthro top and a pump.
